A Postdoctoral Scholar Courses in Oriental Medicine (Postdoc – OMD) is an individual holding a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary period of mentored research and/or scholarly training and classes for the purpose of acquiring the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his or her choosing.

The Postdoctoral Scholar Courses in Oriental Medicine (Postdoc – OMD) at the Royal Victoria University is non-degree and is designed for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine specialists pursuing advanced studies beyond the doctoral level in preparation for an independent career and to prepare participants for practical and academic, teaching and research careers in Traditional Medicine as well.

The Postdoctoral Scholar Courses in Oriental Medicine (Postdoc – OMD) program provides a solid foundation in the core medical disciplines that are most crucial for each participant’s chosen area of specialization, as well as an understanding of the pedagogical and teaching methods commonly used in medical schools. The Postdoc-OMD program curriculum enables participants to maximize the connections between their Ph.D. or other doctorate degree training and medical topics to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue an academic and professional career internationally.

Admission Requirements/Application Procedure

  1. Complete the Application for Admission and submit it with a non-refundable $95 Application Fee
  2. Doctorate degree (or equivalent)
  3. State or/and National Acupuncture or Oriental Medicine License (or equivalent)
  4. Minimum 5 years professional clinical experiences
  5. Provide copy of your most updated professional resume or curriculum vitae
  6. Provide a copy of your last academic degree and official transcript.
  7. Provide one current color passport size photos.

POMD 1210 Advanced Diagnoses & Treatments

Students will learn a perfect blend of ancient practices and modern theory in the application of both acupuncture and herbal medicine applicable to the Infectious Diseases, Neurological Disorders, Infertilities, Skin and Facial. The techniques taught in this class are advanced, safe, effective and efficient and can be applied to your client base.

Particular emphasis is placed on health and safety to effectively carry out acupuncture and oriental medicine.

POMD 1310 Advanced Leadership, Management, Marketing and Insurance in Healthcare System

Overview of key issues in the management and administration of comprehensive health care facilities. Focuses on the leadership, management, marketing, insurance billings and administrator’s relationship to the medical and nursing professions and assesses the attributes of the various types of health service organizations.
